PTC India has moved to a higher growth trajectory aided by a number of developments over the last three-four quarters. Business: Power Trading Corporation (PTC) is in the business of power trading and accounts for nearly half of all the power traded in the country. The company sources power from independent power producers, captive power plants, etc and supplies it to the state distribution boards through both short-term and long-term contracts.
The company was promoted by four power sector PSUs, which collectively hold 16.3% of its equity. Over 54% of its equity lies with domestic institutional investors and 14.6% with foreign institutions. Being in the trading business, the company operates on thin margins. However, it has quadrupled its profits in the last five years, while tripling its net sales.

In India, British Leader to Focus on Business Ties
NEW DELHI — British Prime Minister David Cameron has quickly earned a reputation as a relentless cost-cutter. So maybe it should not be surprising that his next official visit is to India, where phone calls can cost less than a penny a minute, and prices of new cars begin at under $3,000.
Mr. Cameron lands in India on Tuesday with dozens of his country’s chief executives and several top trade officials, part of what a British official here calls Mr. Cameron’s “personal, long-term commitment” to aggressively increase business ties between Britain and India.

MIC To Focus On Strengthening Party, Development Of Indian Community
KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Bernama) -- It was decided at the 64th MIC Annual General Meeting (AGM) that focus will be on strengthening the party and enhancing the development of Indian community in various sectors to face the 13th general election.
Among areas of focus would be to raise the standards and achievements of Indian students by identifying, developing and implementing the Malaysian Indian Strategic Lab and National Indian Key Result Areas (Nikra) to spell out the journey of Malaysian Indians.
MIC President Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu in his speech said Malaysian Indians also wanted to transform into becoming a high income, developed, resilient and competitive community which needed government support.
One of the issues that must be addressed collectively was the problem of total education road map for Indians from pre-school right up to tertiary education, he said when addressing 3,000 delegates at the party's AGM Sunday.

In the four weeks that ended July 12, 2009, for example, revenue for the products totaled $57.8 million, compared with $92.4 million in the four weeks ending Jan 24, 2010, a difference of nearly 60%, according to SymphonyIRI Group, a market research company whose data does not include Wal-Mart sales.
Now Kleenex, the brand that invented facial tissues 86 years ago, is hoping to bolster summer sales with packages that resemble wedges of fruit and look more at home on a picnic table than a bedside table. The A-frame packages, featuring fruits like watermelon, orange and lime, were available only at Target last summer, and are being sold at all major retailers this summer.
